The partnership grants users the option to upload and share video content containing music from the UMG catalogue without being flagged for infringing copyright. It’s a deal that follows much speculation surrounding Facebook’s aspirations in the music industry, and is likely only a small insight into what’s in store for the company’s future.
Facebook, Instagram, and the AI-based Oculus are the current platforms available for users to freely share homemade videos featuring UMG music, with experimentations with Facebook Messenger also in the works.
