Kicking off over Record Store Day’s intended date on Saturday April 18, the Great Australian Warehouse Sale will see independent record stores around Australia receive stock from record labels at the lowest possible wholesale price. There’s a whole bunch of major labels involved, including Inertia, Warner, Sony and Universal, as well as distribution companies Rocket Distribution and MGM, with stock lists set to go live on RSD Australia’s website from tomorrow.
In a post to Facebook, Record Store Day Australia discussed the event, saying “we went to the record companies and asked them to venture into the dim and dusty corners of the warehouse and then get sharp and hot with the prices. They came to the party.”
Obviously with the strict shutdown measures, it’s probably unlikely that anyone will be heading into a record store any time soon, with Record Store Day Australia suggesting some stores will be offering alternatives for you to pick up your wax – “You can pre-order. Kerbside pick up. Some may do home delivery. Plus the usual mail delivery. Whatever is safe and legal.”
