Moog urges customers to oppose US trade tariffs

In a statement issued yesterday, Moog urged for US customers to call their congressional representatives and ask for the tariff to be reconsidered before going into effect on July 6.

“These tariffs will immediately and drastically increase the cost of building our instruments, and have the very real potential of forcing us to lay off workers and could (in a worst case scenario) require us to move some, if not all, of our manufacturing overseas,” the statement reads, pleading for concerened customers to raise the issue with US politicians. “We ask that you will support us by imploring our elected officials to recognise that these tariffs are seriously harmful to American businesses like Moog.”

The tariff, proposed by President Trump as part of America’s ongoing trade war with China, targets raw electronic components such as capacitors, LEDs and diodes, threatening to be a huge disadvantage to Moog’s analogue manufacturing process. Musicians, if there’s ever been a time to get political, the time is now – don’t let Moog fade away over petty trade tariffs.
