Ross Hannaford, the lead guitarist of progressive rock group Daddy Cool, has passed away at age 65. Celebrated as one of Australia’s most talented and unique guitarists, it’s safe to say that Hannaford has left one hell of a legacy behind him.
Lifelong friend and musical colleague Ross Wilson explains that ‘[they] were so lucky to find each other in the wilds of 60’s suburban Melbourne. He was like my little brother; we grew up together in life and in music. He was truly one of a kind’.
Ross Hannaford will not only be remembered for his raw talent, but his quirky sense of humour, his colourful and flamboyant dress style and his beautiful paintings. Hannaford had been battling cancer, yet was still recording as late as last week so the news was still very abrupt.
