Four expert panelists will reveal their secret tips and techniques to Meet ‘n’ Greet attendees, giving Australian bands, filmmakers and fans a free avenue to appearing as delegates at the 2020 run in.
Founded in 1987, South By South West has been a vibrant hub of the music, film and interactive industries since its inception.
With the conference slated for March 2020, the Meet ‘n’ Greets come at the earliest possible time for opening registrations and hotel reservations on August 1, as well as have potential panelists and speakers a chance to upload their presentations before the July 19 cutoff.
Senior Business Development Manager for Australia, New Zealand & Hawaii Phil Trapp reveals that its the best time to get noticed by event staff.
He says, “Because we strategise applying early for showcases, we turn in our music and promo while the eyes and ears of SXSW reviewing staff are fresh and we are prepared for the necessary visas and budgeting when we get early notice of acceptance. Most other bands from the US, UK and elsewhere wait until the last days of deadline when ears are crisped, eyes are weary and the volume is overwhelming with latecomers.”
Previous years has seen the likes of Skegss, Amyl & the Sniffers, Gang of Youths, Alice Ivy and Mallrat travel to Texas as Australian delegates.
Meet ‘n’ Greets all go from 5.30pm till 8pm and are free, reservations are not needed. Check out the dates below:
Monday July 15 – The Gem, 289 Wellington St. Collingwood, Melbourne
