From the ‘70s to the ‘90s, the El Mocambo hosted a wide variety of legendary musicians, including Jimi Hendrix, The Ramones, and Joan Jett, just to name a few. The Rolling Stones and Stevie Ray Vaughn have also recorded live albums from the El Mocambo, further cementing the venue’s legendary status.

The guitars are handcrafted by Fender Custom Shop master builder Ron Thorn, a Toronto native, and uses the 300-year-old Eastern White pine reclaimed from the venue’s rafters and floorboards after their 2014 renovations. The wood is tightly grained and extremely resonant, making it perfect for instruments.

Along with the pine bodies taken from the El Mocambo, the guitars feature an African blackwood fingerboard with 21 jumbo frets and a Canadian roasted maple neck, with the iconic El Mocambo palm tree logo as the first fret inlay.

Both the Stratocaster and Telecaster feature gold hardware, with hand-wound Josefina Campos pickups with special wiring and switching. It also sports vintage-style tuners and a black pickguard. The bodies do not come with a paint job, instead retaining the original look and texture of the wood from the El Mocambo.

Each guitar comes with a custom El Mocambo hard case, leather strap, collectible case candy kit, and a certificate of authenticity.
