“I literally was like 18 years old when I saw a Music Man StingRay. It was a blonde Sting Ray with a black pickguard, and it was at a pawn shop…” Tim reflects. “I scraped up the money and I got it, and that bass became the bass I used to record the first Rage [Against The Machine] record and it was a big part of my life.”

With Tim’s existing attachment to Music Man bass guitars, this collaboration was fitting. The four new basses available have been made to Tim’s exacting specifications with his custom additions coming standard on the new line.

These additions include a height adjustable finger ramp, which means you can play in the middle of the body and rest your finger on this bit of plastic, and when you want to pick, just screw it down and it sits flush with the pickguard.

It’s all about comfort which is neat and there’s also mute pads on the bridge which can be dialled in to taste.

There’s four different basses on offer here, the differences being two are active, two are passive and each of these comes in short scale and full scale versions.

They are available now through the Ernie Ball Music Man website and you can take a look at them in detail below.
