The Avid Pro Tools Carbon Pre is an exciting addition to the Carbon family, a pre interface that brings an additional eight pristine mic preamps to the platform.

The Carbon Pre enables the highest quality audio, 32-bit resolution that maximises dynamic range across the entire audio production workflow.

Users can control up to nine Pro Tools Carbon Pre units in a Pro Tools HD system, while utilising the Hybrid Engine for low-latency input processing.

AD converters on each input provide industry-leading double-precision clocking, and the Carbon Pre allows artists to optimise the tone of instruments or mics, with Variable Z impedance switching – this ensures users can hear and feel every nuance in their recordings.

Artists will be able to remotely control, save, and recall all preamp settings – including phantom power, gain, and impendance switching, and with instant session recall thanks to the virtual assistant, users can switch between sessions without delay.

The Pro Tools Carbon Pre will be available in late October and will retail for USD$2,299.

Avid’s MBOX Studio is a new desktop recording solution for guitarists, producers, and podcasters alike.

This USB-C interface is compatible with both Mac and Windows and comes with a one-year subscription to Pro Tools Studio, though it’s also compatible with other DAWs.

MBOX Studio offers 21 inputs and 22 outputs, which Avid claims is more than any other desktop audio interface, and it relies on the same mic preamps found in the S6L and the Pro Tools Carbon system.

Variable Z impedance switching on the instrument inputs, allows users the freedom to change guitar tones while recording, to complement the effects chain.

The MBOX Studio is available for pre order through Avid resellers, starting at USD$899.
