As if the newly announced ATH-R50x weren’t enough, Audio-Technica has also revised the flagship model, the ATH-R70x in the newly announced ATH-R70xa.

The ATH-R70xa is Audio-Technica’s new flagship pair of professional open-back reference headphones. Whether mixing, mastering or creating, the ATH-R70xa is the perfect production tool, delivering accurate and dependable reference across stereo, surround and immersive formats. This enhanced version of the ATH-R70x delivers its predecessor’s natural and balanced sound with refined accuracy and detail, providing a heightened listening experience with precise imaging and depth for realistic sound staging. While the ATH-R70x used damping and its acoustic design for added low frequency emphasis, the full open-sound of the ATH-R70xa relies solely on the on the driver’s performance. Each movement translates directly into sound without reliance on acoustic cavities or resonance for frequency enhancement and minimal distortion.

Made for the critical listening that we all do while mixing and mastering, the ATH-R70xa respond from 5Hz to 40kHz, so every detail of a mix is transparently reproduced. The unrestricted airflow and absence of internal resonance allow for an extremely quick transient response, ensuring the clarity and separation needed to handle complex contemporary mixes.

The ATH-70xa featured streamlined construction, weighing just 199 grams. They also feature a new headband design ad replaceable velour pads, allowing the headphones to virtually disappear when in use, making them perfect for extended sessions that are common for recording, producing, mixing and mastering.
