IK's amp-capture software gets a redesign, deeper ToneNET browsing and a bigger Premium library, free to every existing TONEX user.
IK Multimedia has opened a public beta for TONEX 2.0 Player, a rebuild of the free software in its TONEX amp-and-pedal capture system. Existing TONEX owners can download it now from the IK User Area for free.

TONEX captures the sound of real amps and pedals with IK’s AI Machine Modeling, saving each one as a Tone Model that moves between the software and the TONEX pedals. Version 2 rebuilds the Player around a new Home page that puts the gear, signal chain and library on one screen, so sounds are quicker to find and organise. A photorealistic view of the amps and pedals lets you build and edit a rig by eye, and Smart Search finds Tone Models, presets and collections as you type. Resizable floating windows, multi-monitor support, custom folders, Favorites and a Recently Used list fill out the rest.
ToneNET, IK’s online library for sharing captures, is now built into the browser instead of a separate page. It brings together official IK content, Signature Collections, Tone Partner releases and community-made Tone Models, with tools for searching and sorting through them. Auditioning, downloading and organising all happen without leaving the Player.
The Premium library grows by up to 220 new V2 Tone Models, spanning vintage classics, boutique amps, modern high-gain and bass gear, each captured with the newest version of IK’s modelling. With a TONEX pedal plugged in, presets are ready to send straight to the hardware, so the same sounds carry from the desk to rehearsal to the stage.
It’s a public beta, so still a work in progress, and IK will likely keep refining it before a full release. For now it runs alongside the current TONEX software rather than replacing it.
