VOX has released the APC-1 and APC-2, electric travel guitars that answer a question you didn’t know you were asking: what if your guitar was also your entire rig? Everything’s built in – analog amp modelling, effects, rhythm machine and speakers. It’s a pretty cool concept, especially when you just want to play without setting up your pedals, lugging your amp to the other room or finding where you left your lead. Easy peasy.

Both models take cues from iconic 1960s VOX guitar shapes with plenty of modern features packed in. The onboard analog amp modelling delivers authentic VOX tone with warmth and character. Built-in effects include chorus, tremolo, delay and reverb with tap tempo, so you can shape your sound and capture ideas quickly without setting up a pedalboard.
The APC-1 has a single pickup while the APC-2 sports dual humbuckers for broader tonal range. Both include a rhythm machine with 33 patterns across 11 genres – perfect for practice, songwriting or spontaneous jams.
Sound comes through a Tektonic Audio speaker system with passive radiators for wide, room-filling dispersion. VOX solved the usual feedback problems of speaker-equipped guitars using a vibration-isolated speaker mount.
The APC-2’s body shape reimagines the iconic VOX Standard 25 from the 1980s with modern comfort. Available in Aqua Green, Black and White, it blends classic looks with contemporary edge.
Construction features a poplar body, maple neck and rosewood fingerboard with 610mm scale length and hardtail bridge. Controls cover the essentials: pickup selector, gain, boost, tone and volume for the guitar side; start/stop, genre, variations, tempo and level for the rhythm machine; plus tap and effect selection.
Six AA alkaline or Ni-MH rechargeable batteries power everything (sold separately). Each guitar ships with adjustment wrenches, strap, gig bag and manual.
