Enhanced versions of two mastering staples arrive with improved analog modelling and new features for UAD users.

Universal Audio has released version 2 updates for two popular UAD plugins: the elysia alpha compressor V2 and SPL Vitalizer MK3-T. Both arrive as part of the Apollo and UAD v11.8.2 software update, bringing deeper analog realism and expanded functionality to mastering engineers.

Catch up on all the latest news here.

The elysia alpha compressor V2 is a re-engineered emulation of elysia’s flagship Class A mastering compressor. This update incorporates Tolerance Modeling Technology (TMT) by Brainworx, delivering what Universal Audio describes as greater precision, depth, and transient accuracy compared to the original plugin version.

Beyond the improved character, the V2 includes several plugin-exclusive features. Auto Gain provides level-matched playback without constant gain-staging adjustments, while Mid/Side processing, Stereo Width, Mono Maker, and Parallel Mix controls expand creative possibilities. The plugin also features a scalable UI and improvements to transient response, low-end depth, and stereo imaging.

Meanwhile, the SPL Vitalizer MK3-T brings SPL’s legendary enhancer (a studio secret weapon since the ’90s) into the UAD ecosystem with updated circuit modelling. Known for adding clarity, depth, and polish to mixes and masters, this plugin recreates both the tube-powered and solid-state characteristics of the hardware.

Controls include Drive, Bass, and Mid-Hi Tune parameters for shaping low-end punch or achieving silky highs. Like the elysia update, the Vitalizer now includes TMT modelling, Auto Gain, Parallel Mix, and M/S processing to suit modern mixing approaches.

“These versions bring even more analog realism, along with enhancements and updated scalable UI, so they pop right off the screen,” says Lev Perrey, VP of Product at Universal Audio.

Both plugins are available now through Universal Audio’s website. Current owners of the original versions can upgrade at a reduced rate.
