Homeshake was birthed by Peter Sagar, Mac Demarco’s lead guitarist, back in 2014 with the release of his debut album In The Shower. Due to the crazy success of this first record, the musician broke away from the band to solely concentrate on his own, beautifully warped take on indie-pop. Now, on the back of his sophomore album Midnight Snack, Sagar will finally be gracing our stages with his unique sound.
When you compare In The Shower with the recently released Midnight Snack, it’s impossible to deny Peter Sagar’s versatility. For the new album, the artist trades his guitar for synthesisers and a drum machine, developing vocal arrangements from loops he created for a solo set. He pulled influence from house pioneers like Chip E and Mr. Fingers, as well as Japanese pop starlets like Chiemi Manabe, slowing down the temp with his style of homemade drowsiness.
