TikTok has been credited for unearthing and rediscovering bands and artists as they have continued to try and promote creation and monetisation on their platforms with a partnership with APRA AMCOS and their Creator Next program.
While these aren’t exactly a huge monetary step up, at least the effort’s there, right?
This platform doesn’t exactly incur any risk or hassle as artists can distribute their music directly to TikTok, as well as the likes of Apple Music, Deezer, Spotify, and Pandora.
Distribution is free and the royalties will (mostly) all go back to their artist with 100 per cent of royalties returning for an unlimited time through Bytedance-owned platforms (TikTok, Resso, and CapCut).
Through off-Bytedance platforms, artists will receive 100 per cent of royalties for the first year, and 90 per cent beyond that year, while they’ll also retain the rights indefinitely to tracks and the masters uploaded to the platform.
On top of that, artists will also gain access to a range of TikTok-provided promotional and marketing tools and ongoing support including audience insights, advice from SoundOn’s dedicated artist team, access to TikTok’s song tab, editorial placements on Resso and CapCut, and promotional support through creator marketing on the TikTok platform.
SoundOn has launched in the US, UK, Brazil, and Indonesia and has already attained registered artists.
