The Push partners with Australian Independent Record Labels Association to launch Push Records

Words by Will Brewster

The newly minted label aims to sign and release new music by young Victorian artists.

Victorian youth music body The Push has today announced the launch of Push Records, a new record label venture in partnership with Australian Independent Record Labels Association (AIR).

As part of Creative Victoria’s Victorian Music Industry Recovery Program, the venture will see Push Records spotlight the talents of young Victorian artists in a manner that’s engaging and accessible for other young fans, signing artists and releasing music to appeal to emerging generations of artists and fans.

Push Records will launch with a six month learning program that provide artist and industry participants with the chance to gain crucial business experience and establish networks, all while being mentored by a range of label professionals, recording engineers, producers and artists.

Additionally, thirty young Victorians between the age of 16-25 will be selected to take roles on the Push Records label team, with each member receiving online mentorship from industry practitioners to sign and support five young artists to the label.

Applications for the Push Records Label team are open from today until Sunday 10 January 2021, while artist applications open on Monday January 4 and close on Sunday February 7 2021.

Recently, The Push also announced Electronic Music Accelerator; a program of electronic music production workshops for young female and gender non-conforming Victorians.
