Solid State Logic has launched Odyssey, a large-format analogue console that recalls its entire state in an instant. Built on SSL’s ActiveAnalogue technology, it joins Oracle on the company’s Future Analogue platform and brings complete Instant Recall to the sound and feel of a flagship SSL desk.

Recall has always been the weak point of big analogue consoles, slow to reset and easy to get slightly wrong. Odyssey stores complete console states, so engineers can restore, compare and switch between them straight away, across tracking, mixing, stem building and client revisions.
“Odyssey gives engineers everything they love about analogue sound and workflow of a familiar in-line console, while removing the compromises that have historically slowed large-scale productions,” said Niall Feldman, Director of Special Projects. “It’s a console designed to move at the speed of creativity.”
The signal path stays fully analogue, with high-resolution digital control running behind it. That keeps the SuperAnalogue sound without the noise, distortion and power draw of older digitally controlled desks. It feels like a traditional SSL under the hands, but every setting can be recalled.
Every channel has PureDrive mic preamps with a DRIVE control, fully analogue dynamics, switchable E and G Series EQ, high and low pass filters, insert points and motorised dual-fader control, and all of it recalls with the desk. It handles reference-grade clean sounds as readily as warmer, driven character.
The centre section handles monitoring, routing, mix control, bus processing, talkback, automation and DAW integration, with THE BUS+, an Analogue Dynamic EQ and Dolby Atmos renderer control for immersive work. Frames run from 24+8 to 96+8 channels in straight, curved ProStation or custom builds, with the analogue circuitry housed in remote racks and run by SSL’s O-Control software and O-Motion automation.
Oracle owners get something out of it too with the O Series V2.0 making projects compatible between the two desks. This means a session started on Odyssey opens straight on Oracle, and adds Snapshot filtering, O-Motion DAW plug-in automation and Odyssey’s TouchView dynamics display. Odyssey is available now through SSL in Standard, ProStation and custom configurations.
