Rare guitars played by Eddie Van Halen, Prince set to go to auction next month

A self-portrait drawn by Kurt Cobain is also set to be sold.

Julien’s Auctions will host one of the biggest music memorabilia auctions on Friday June 11 with Van Halen-played instruments, a Prince-owned guitar, handwritten notes and drawings from Bob Dylan and Kurt Cobain and much more.

Five Charvel EVH Art Series electric guitars Eddie Van Halen designed, hand-striped, and played on stage.

Each guitar comes with certificates of authenticity and a hard case as bidding starts at seven thousand dollars but are expected to reach up to $50,000 USD.

There are two black and yellow models, a yellow and black striped model, a black and grey striped model, and a red, white, and black version with a 5150 graphic.

Alex Van Halen’s custom Ludwig drum kit which was used in over 100 shows over their 1980 Invasion tour is set to be his first and only ever drum kit to go to the auction.

The kit spent five years in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland as he said he said it is “the only one like it in the world”.

Kurt Cobain’s self-caricature is expected to reach at least 20 thousand dollars which depicts himself playing a right-handed guitar saying, “I don’t know how to play and I don’t give a hoot!”.

One of Prince’s blue Cloud Guitars will also go to auction along with some of his worn outfits.

The list of incredible items for sale is well into the hundreds and features signatures from the likes of Jim Morrison, Michael Jackson, Jimi Hendrix, and more.
