The production-ready Demon Box captures ambient electromagnetic fields and transforms them into sculptable audio, CV and MIDI.
Every room is full of invisible electromagnetic activity, and the Demon Box turns that into music.
Eternal Research, the Brooklyn-born, Los Angeles-based creative technology studio, heads to Superbooth 2026 in Berlin with the production-ready version of its flagship instrument – a device that captures electromagnetic fields and turns them into a playable instrument. For artists and sound designers looking for something truly different, the Demon Box delivers.

The Demon Box picks up ambient EMF signals from the environment around it and converts them into raw, sculptable audio, CV and MIDI. The electromagnetic activity already present in any room, from lighting, electronics, cables and countless other sources, becomes the raw material. Players can then shape and manipulate that energy into sound rather than generating it from a traditional oscillator or sample source. It’s tactile, unpredictable and, depending on your environment, different every time.
Eternal Research will be at Booth Z065 in the ZW Tents area across all three days of Superbooth, running hands-on demonstrations and giving visitors direct access to the team behind the instrument. “Superbooth is a special place where sonic ideas are shared and new visions are realized,” said Alexandra Fierra, co-founder of Eternal Research. “We’re excited to meet with those attending to share our final version of the Demon Box in a setting where curiosity and exploration drive everything.”
The team will also be available for conversations about the Demon Box’s development process and the philosophy behind it.
Superbooth itself marks its tenth year in 2026, and remains one of Europe’s most significant gatherings for synthesizer culture and the broader electronic music community. The mix of indoor exhibits and outdoor installations makes it a fitting environment for the Demon Box, an instrument that needs to be experienced to understand.
Superbooth 2026 runs 7–9 May at FEZ-Berlin. Head here to learn more.
