You Can Now Make Your Electric Guitar Sound Like A Banjo

guitarjo.jpg

Guitar-Jo is the first and only electric guitar accessory that makes your guitar sound like a banjo. Jon Langberg invented the unique guitar accessory, with the idea coming when he was performing one night and thought that one of his songs needed a banjo in it. Langberg couldn’t afford to buy one and learn how to play his new instrument in a short timeframe, so he began brainstorming ideas on how to transform his guitar sound into that of a banjo.

The first prototype of Guitar-Jo was designed in his uncle’s workshop. The prototype device attached to the body of the electric guitar with suction cups. A fabric was placed on the underside of the device and could be lowered down by turning the wing-nuts until it made just the right amount of contact with the strings, which was much more consistent with the sound of an actual banjo.

Since then, Guitar-Jo has been transformed into a more sophisticated and functional device than the original, with a successful Kickstarter campaign resulting in the device now being manufactured for commercial use. The release is still yet to be confirmed.
