Fret Friend, a current kickstarter project, is a visualisation tool that promises novice and veteran guitarists alike an easy way to perfect the craft. The convenient tool will allow the user to draw notes, scales, chords or other patterns directly onto the fretboard. Because a lot of us prefer to learn with visual cues rather than swallowing down mountains theory, the product certainly promotes a sense of creativity in the learning process.
Tim Bearce, the mind behind Fret Friend, explains that his ‘passion for music was growing and [he] wanted to find a more convenient way to learn guitar scales. Since it’s easier to learn new things visually, [he] started with a basic approach. Sticking small pieces of paper on the fretboard. It looked funny but it helped!’ Transferring this original concept into something a little more sustainable and a little less funny looking, Fret Friend was born.
Fret Friend is designed to fit on any guitar scale length from 610-648 mm.
