Taylor Guitars Reveal Details Of Revamped 700 Series

The main story of the new collection is the redesigned 700 series, one of the only series of Taylor guitars to not have undergone such redesigning in the past few years. The new versions of the guitars feature enhancements including lutz spruce tops, performance bracing and protein glue. Aesthetically there have also been a few updates, with the introduction of an optional western sunburst finish on the top, a Douglas fir herringbone rosette, koa binding and green abalone fretboard inlay.

Another announcement was the introduction of rosewood models to the 400 series of guitars. The only spec change for this is that in Dreadnought guitars the standard nut width is 1-11/16 inches, with a 1-3/4 inch option available as well. There was also change in the 800 series, with a ‘Deluxe’ class announced. The new models will include three ‘ultra-premium features’, which are a new radius armrest, Adirondack spruce bracing and Gotoh chrome tuners.

Finally, the last major announcement was for a Special Edition Quilted Maple 214ce-QM Deluxe, which features layered-wood back and side construction of quilted maple, a central core of poplar and a solid Sitka spruce top. The new model comes as a Venetian cutaway with ES2 electronics and a hard shell case from Taylor.
