Want a rain stick that sounds like the sea? Try Latin Percussion’s Sound Vibrations Collection

LP Sound Vibrations Collection

LP swaps the stage for the studio floor with a collection made for wellness practitioners.

Latin Percussion is doing something a different with the Sound Vibrations Collection, a range of rain sticks and drums made for sound therapists and healing practitioners.

Catch up on all the latest news here.

Karen-Renée Robb, a visual and vocal artist who founded The Music City Alliance for Sound & Music Healing and Frame Drum Wisdom, designed the collection alongside LP, and her original artwork runs across the instruments – large and small rainmaker sticks, three 16-inch Shaman Drums, four 16-inch Frame Drums and a pair of Ocean Drums in 14 and 16-inch sizes.

Internal spines inside the rainmaker sticks draw out a sustained sound, while a natural bead filling settles into a soft, earthy patter. Both measure 2 inches across, with the larger stick running just over 47 inches and the smaller closer to 24.

The Shaman Drums keep a grounded, traditional feel with 16-inch natural wood shells and Black Napa synthetic heads tuned for a deep, expressive tone. An interior rope handle holds the drum steady for playing by hand or with the included soft mallet, and the heads come plain or carrying Robb’s Mandala or Phoenix Rising artwork.

The frame drums use much the same build, with a scalloped edge that sits more comfortably in the hand across a long session. Pretuned synthetic heads give them a brighter, more vivid voice, again with a plain option or a choice of Blue and Orange Butterfly or Flower of Life designs.

The Ocean Drums are filled with hundreds of tiny beads that roll across the inner surface as the drum is tilted, mimicking lapping or crashing waves. The 16-inch model is dual-chambered, with beads moving freely between two heads for a layered wash of sound, while the 14-inch keeps things more compact.

Pitched at drum circles, retreats and quieter healing sessions, the Sound Vibrations Collection leans towards atmosphere over rhythm.
