Supro reissue the 1959 Tri Tone electric guitar

Although the original Supro Triple Tone was only produced for a year between 1959-1960, most punters should be familiar with its little brother, the Duo Tone, a noted favourite of David Bowie amongst others for its unique fibreglass construction and tonal response.

Celebrating 60 years of the deluxe singlecut model, Supro’s reissue of the 1959 Triple Tone adds various appointments to ensure it holds up to the standards of the modern player. This time around, Supro do away with the fibreglass, giving the Tri Tone a mahogany body, a hard maple bound neck and a pau ferro fretboard fitted with large block inlays. As well as adding a set neck construction, the new Tri Tone also features a Super Alnico pickup in the bridge and Vistatone pickups in the middle and neck positions, a Tune-o-matic bridge, a belly contour and a modified lower horn to allow for ease of access to the upper frets of the instrument.

Each pickup in the Supro Tri Tone features its own tone knob, with the guitar utilising a master volume control and a five-way selector switch to flick between tones. If you’re chasing a new guitar with a wide range of vintage tones on tap and looks to kill, you’ll love the Supro Tri Tone – hit the link here to check out the full specs list.
