The Reverb Shop is set to include many of Carrabba’s cherished gear used in the studio and on the road while performing under the Dashboard Confessional moniker, which celebrates its 20th band-versary this year. Over ten guitars and a handful of amplifiers set to hit the chopping block when the sale goes live next week, including some battered vintage classics, pristine acoustics and amplifiers with notable sentimental value.
One of the amplifiers in question is none other than Carrabba’s original Fender Acoustasonic, a prominent aspect of his initial solo shows under the Dashboard Confessional name, which he reflected upon in a statement to Reverb – “Picture my early days, when basements, living rooms, garages, and driveways were the only venues that would have me. I needed something to make a show happen, since there would never be PAs at any of these ‘venues.’ So this combination vocal and acoustic guitar amp was the perfect tool. I literally could not have done my shows without this amp.” You can watch Carrabba discuss the Reverb sale further here.
Other prominent additions to the sale include a Gibson J-185 used on the band’s MTV Unplugged performance from 2002, as well as a 1974 Fender Telecaster Custom, a host of Guild acoustics and a black Gibson Melody Maker, the first electric guitar ever purchased by Carrabba. The sale goes live on Monday September 23 – sign up for updates below.
