The Lead II and Lead III, which fall into Fender’s entry-level MIM Player Series, feature double cutaway designs and C-shaped necks for a comfortable reach up the neck, and come in a range of very quirky colours, including Crimson Red Transparent, Neon Green, Metallic Purple and Sienna Sunburst, as well as typical Black and Olympic White finishes. They’re also wired with unique toggle controls for pickup selection and phase-reversing/coil-tapping, with the Lead II’s single coils being paired with the former and the Lead III’s humbuckers the coil-tapping latter.
For those looking for a more shreddable model, the Fender Heavy Metal Strat will be squealing for your name, with its basswood body, Floyd Rose Tremolo, 24 jumbo frets and 25″ scale absolutely begging for some divebombs and double-handed tapping acrobatics. It’s loaded with Fender’s own single coil and humbucking pickups, and also features Gotoh tuners and a cool ’80s headstock decal. They’re also available in a range of very loud and neon finishes, including Ice Blue, Yellow and Pink – tasty!
