Both models are set to be available through the Fender Custom Shop in early 2019 and will make their official debut at NAMM in Anaheim tomorrow.
STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN SIGNATURE STRATOCASTER
Stevie Ray Vaughan is renowned for reviving the electric blues in the ‘80s and ‘90s, a feat helped along by the constant presence of his beloved Strat. Fender’s Custom Shop artisans have crafted the new signature model in line with SRV’s wishes, who co-designed the Strat prior to his passing.
Features include a trio of high-output Custom Shop Hand-Wound Texas Special pickups, a left-handed vintage-style synchronised tremolo bridge, and a two-piece alder body. Elsewhere on the guitar, you can expect to find five-way pickup switching, vintage-style wiring, a black SRV pickguard, and vintage-style tuners.
YNGWIE MALMSTEEN SIGNATURE STRATOCASTER
Yngwie Malmsteen has earned himself a Custom Shop version of his original 1988 Signature Stratocaster, which was released as one of the first official Fender signature instruments. The 2019 version sees a host of quality features incorporated into the guitar, including custom Seymour Duncan YJM Fury single-coil pickups, a two-piece alder body, and a tinted maple neck with a “Custom C”-shaped profile.
The new Malmsteen signature also offers vintage-inspired elements, such as a “big” headstock, vintage bridge and “F”-stamped tuning machines, plus enhancements like 21 super-jumbo frets, brass nut and special strap locks.
