The limited edition run keeps the mahogany body, EMG active humbuckers and stripped-back control layout that have defined the model since its debut.
For anyone who needs a guitar that keeps up with crushing riffs and razor-sharp precision, this is news for you.
Fender has released a stunning Shoreline Gold finish option for the Jim Root Telecaster, adding a new look to one of its longer-running artist signature models.

The guitar itself stays close to the established model. A mahogany body sits under the gloss Shoreline Gold finish, paired with a maple neck and ebony fingerboard with a 12″ radius and 22 jumbo frets – the flatter radius making it easier to bend notes without fretting out at higher positions. EMG 60 and 81 active humbuckers handle the pickup duties, with the 81 in the bridge position being a common choice for high-gain playing. Controls are kept deliberately sparse: a single volume knob and a three-way pickup switch. Black hardware throughout, hardtail strings-through-body bridge and locking tuners round out the spec.
Root has been using Fender guitars with Slipknot and Stone Sour for over two decades, and the signature model was built around his preference for a Telecaster body with mahogany construction and active pickups rather than the passive single-coils the platform is typically associated with.
“Fender guitars have been a cornerstone of my rig since the earliest days of Slipknot and continue to be today,” Root said. “Seeing my signature model in Shoreline Gold gives it a completely fresh character. It’s the same guitar I’ve relied on for more than two decades, but this new finish makes it feel exciting all over again.”
