Maxon launch the Keeley-modded OD808-40K 40th Anniversary Overdrive

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the classic unit – as well as Keeley’s role in establishing their popularity with circuit tweakers over the years – Maxon have allowed Robert Keeley to let loose on the OD808-40K. The new pedal boasts Keeley’s all-new ‘Max-Gain’ modification, offering an extra hot, stacked high gain tone while still maintaining the classic characteristics of the original OD808.

Maxon and Keeley are producing an extremely limited run of the new OD808-40K effects, with only 400 units expected to be created – the first 40 will be hand-signed by Keeley and feature a toggle switch to flick between original and Max-Gain modes.

In a statement released alongside the announcement of the pedal, Keeley celebrated his longstanding history with the OD808, saying that “The sleek and classic sounding Maxon OD808 has always been a favourite of mine. What I have always wanted to do is fully realize the mods in my head.”

“I wanted to change several aspects at once. For this 40th anniversary edition I put everything into making it a very hot, stacked gain sounding overdrive. It is everything a classic OD808 is, just maxed out!”
