After moving to Kentucky in 1991, the experienced woodworker soon became attracted to the “unique character and identity” that each bourbon barrel head possessed. Eleven years later, on a winter’s afternoon in 2012, after warming himself up with a glass of bourbon, Mike began to put his plan to build a guitar from the barrel in place.
Constructed to a 25” scale, the model TS-1 is a single cutaway, has a single humbucker pickup, volume control, locking tuners, custom fretboard inlay dots and of course – a rear “flask” compartment. Additionally, the finishing options range from Bourbon Burst, Charred, Distillery Stamp and Plain Top.
Recently, as a part of breast cancer awareness month, Mike honoured his sister Susan, who lost her life to breast cancer six years ago by building her a special pinked out guitar. The guitar and bourbon enthusiast plans to sell the one of a kind guitar and donate the money to cancer research.
