Here's everything that's new to their flagship DAW.
It’s been a big week in DAW world.
First we had the announcement of Ableton Live 11, then there were new updates to Cubase and Pro Tools, and now, Apple have joined in on the fun with the unveiling of Logic Pro 10.6.
Tying in with the launch of Apple’s new M1 chip equipped Macs, Logic Pro 10.6 promises superior performance and efficiency, with many of the minor bugs from the 10.5 update being amended to offer producers with a fast-moving workflow.
Logic Pro 10.6 also improves on the Live Loops functionality added earlier in the year, with the new update allowing for the DAW to connect to all devices from Novation’s Launchpad range.
Considering that only a select few Launchpad models were able to work with Logic Pro 10.5 upon launch, this new backwards compatibility could prove to be a huge drawcard for producers using older models from the Launchpad series.
Other new features to Logic Pro 10.6 include the ability to control the program’s Step Sequencer using Logic Remote on your iOS devices for intuitive, touch-controlled beat programming through your iPhone or iPad.
There’s also a huge range of minor tweaks to improve the overall stability and performance of the DAW, which you can view at your own leisure here.
Interestingly enough, this update also sees Apple drop the X from Logic Pro to bring it further in-line with the rest of their products – could that also mean that a Logic Pro 11 is over the horizon? Only time will tell…
