USB-C charging, a battery-powered transmitter and a travel case make the portable monitors more grab-and-go, now at a new lower price.
Danish audio brand AIAIAI has announced the latest evolution of its UNIT-4 wireless studio monitors, designed to deliver clear, detailed sound anywhere without a wall outlet or audio cable. The first shipment is on its way, and the UNIT-4 Gen 2 is available to order now at a new lower price.
AIAIAI says the update focuses on removing the friction points of making and listening to music on the move.

What’s new
- USB-C charging: the monitors now charge with the same cable as a laptop or phone, doing away with bulky power bricks.
- Battery-powered W+ Link transmitter: the updated transmitter no longer needs a wall socket, so producers and DJs can plug straight into standalone gear such as battery-powered synths, grooveboxes or DJ decks and keep a lag-free wireless connection.
- Travel case: the two-speaker bundle now includes a custom-moulded travel case that holds both monitors, the transmitter and all the necessary cables.
- White finish: for the first time, the UNIT-4 is also available in white, as a contrast to its classic black.
Sound and connectivity
Each monitor is a two-way active design with a 4″ high-excursion woofer and a 1″ silk-dome tweeter. AIAIAI quotes a flat frequency response of ±2 dB from 50 Hz to 20 kHz, with bass extension down to 40 Hz.
The included X04 W+ Link transmitter delivers uncompressed 44.1 kHz/16-bit wireless audio with 16 ms of latency. Bluetooth 5.2 handles simple playback from a phone or laptop, while balanced and aux inputs (3.5 mm mini-jack and 6.3 mm TRS) connect synths, DJ gear or a record player. A customisable five-band EQ is available through the AIAIAI app, and a second UNIT-4 can be paired for Bluetooth audio in stereo.

Portability and build
The UNIT-4 weighs 2.5 kg and has a built-in ergonomic handle, with a drawstring bag for longer trips. Battery life is more than 20 hours, and the monitors are built from 100% recycled plastics. They’re designed for easy disassembly, with replaceable batteries, upgradeable wireless electronics and other serviceable components.
