Two new systems make it easy for small crews to switch from wired to wireless monitoring.
Phenyx Pro has announced two new UHF wireless in-ear monitor systems, the PTM-10 GEN2 and PTM-20, launching on Kickstarter.
Built on the same platform, the PTM-10 GEN2 is a single-channel system aimed at solo performers and simpler setups, while the PTM-20 adds a second independent channel for bands, worship teams and other multi-performer stages. Both are designed to bring stereo, low-noise in-ear monitoring to small live music venues, rehearsal spaces and touring acts that have outgrown wired monitors without the price tag of a flagship system.

The two systems share the same UHF platform, including Auto Scan to find a clean frequency before a show, three-level RF power adjustment for anything from a large stage to a small room, and 63 channels across the 555–575MHz band. Both offer up to 30mW of transmit power and a range of up to 165 ft, aimed at keeping interference, dropouts and dead zones out of the mix. The PTM-20’s transmitter scales from two up to 2N bodypacks, allowing productions to add performers as they grow.
The key difference between the two systems comes down to mix count. The PTM-10 GEN2 runs a single high-quality mix — enough for a solo vocalist, a host, or a drummer needing a dedicated feed. The PTM-20 splits that into two independent mixes across its A/B channels, so a duo act, or a vocalist and drummer in a larger band, no longer have to share one blend.
“PTM-10 GEN2 exists because our users asked for it. After the original PTM-10 shipped, we heard directly from performers and engineers about what they wanted improved, and we spent time testing and refining around that feedback. GEN2 is the result, a direct replacement that gives the same users a noticeably better experience. PTM-20 was built alongside it, on the same platform, for teams that need two independent mixes instead of one,” said Vivian Lou, co-founder at Phenyx Pro.
Sound quality is consistent across both systems regardless of mix count. The PTM-10 GEN2’s single mix and each of the PTM-20’s two mixes support mono/stereo switching, giving performers the choice of a focused mono feed or a wider stereo image with more than 40dB of channel separation. A 50Hz–18kHz (±3dB) frequency response, a signal-to-noise ratio of ≥88dB, and less than one% total harmonic distortion keep every mix clean, while up to 70mW of output gives most in-ear headphones enough drive to stay clear on a loud stage.
Both systems also build in several ways to adjust on the fly, including a limiter for sudden volume spikes, PAD attenuation against overload, a Balance control for left/right preference, basic EQ on the bodypack, and a Lock function to stop settings shifting mid-show.
