McCartney 3,2,1 will premiere on Hulu on July 16.
After being teased by both parties in December last year, Paul McCartney and Rick Rubin’s upcoming documentary series McCartney 3,2,1 has now received an offical premiere date.

The six-part documentary series, directed by Zachary Heinzerling and produced by Frank Marshall, will see McCartney and Rubin engage in one-on-one conversations as they discuss McCartney’s musical origins and artistic evolution, beginning with the Beatles and delving deep into his solo career, personal relationships and songwriting process along the way
An early trailer for the documentary series saw Rubin and McCartney dissecting the stems for the Beatles’ 1969 classic ‘Come Together’, with McCartney breaking down into the band’s recording process while soloing tracks on a mixing console.
McCartney 3,2,1 is also purported to be the first time ever that the Beatles’ original master tapes had been removed from Abbey Road Studios, offering an unparalleled insight into the recording of the band’s seminal back catalogue.
“Never before have fans had the opportunity to hear Paul McCartney share, in such expansive, celebratory detail, the experience of creating his life’s work – more than 50 years of culture-defining music,” said Craig Erwich, president of Hulu Originals and ABC Entertainment.
“To be an observer as Paul and Rick Rubin deconstruct how some of the biggest hits in music history came to be is truly enlightening. It is an honor that Paul chose to return to Hulu to share this one-of-a-kind series.”
Last December, Paul McCartney released his 18th solo album, McCartney III, recorded entirely by himself while under lockdown.
The famed songwriter released a revised take on the record last month in the form of McCartney III Imagined, which saw the likes of St. Vincent, Khruangbin, Damon Albarn, Beck and Josh Homme rework or remix a number of songs from the album.
