Paul McCartney and Rick Rubin to release six-part documentary series

Words by Will Brewster

Tracing McCartney's incredible musical career.

To tie in with today’s release of McCartney III, Paul McCartney and Rick Rubin have announced a documentary series tracing McCartney’s musical beginnings, his ascension to super-stardom and beyond.

Produced by recent Bee Gee’s documentary director Frank Marshall, Paul McCartney x Rick Rubin will span six episodes, with the two industry veterans chatting about everything from McCartney’s first guitar through to his career with the Beatles and his many collaborations in the decades that have followed.

In a black-and-white teaser trailer shared to McCartney’s socials, the two musical luminaries can be seen hovering above a mixing board together, dissecting the soloed stems to the Beatles’ Abbey Road classic ‘Come Together.’

The documentary – which as of yet, has not confirmed a release date – is also said to have marked the first occasion that the original Beatles masters were removed from Abbey Road Studios.

Watch the trailer below, and check in soon to catch the series full.

Paul McCartney’s 18th solo record McCartney III is out today.
