Slipknot announce split from percussionist Chris Fehn

Slipknot released an official statement explaining their decision:

“Slipknot’s focus is on making album #6 and our upcoming shows around the world—our best ever. Chris knows why he is no longer a part of Slipknot. We are disappointed that he chose to point fingers and manufacture claims rather than doing what was necessary to continue to be a part of Slipknot. We would have preferred he not take the path that he has, but evolution in all things is a necessary part of this life. Long live the knot.”

Fehn had been in Slipknot since their 1999 self-titled debut album, and is allegedly suing the band over reportedly not being properly compensated for his time touring with the band. According to The Blast, Fehn was under the assumption that a sole company was handling the profits and dispersing the money among the band. The percussionist alleges he had found several separate companies receiving Slipknot-affiliated profits, and hasn’t seen any of the money coming in through those organisations.

Fehn has been reportedly pointing the finger to frontman Corey Taylor and fellow percussionist Clown for the suspicious business dealings. Fehn wishes to see Slipknot undergo full forensic accounting on all of their assets and companies, intending to receive the profits he is allegedly owed.

At this time, Fehn hasn’t released a statement of his own.

Following the lawsuit news, Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor took to Twitter and wrote a dramatic tweet, which leaves people relating it to the alleged lawsuit or the entire report.

“You’re gonna read a lot of bullshit today,” Taylor says in the tweet. “This is all I’ll say. JUST YOU WAIT TIL THE TRUTH COMES OUT. Long Live The Knot.”

Slipknot recently announced an upcoming Australian tour, supporting metal heavyweights Metallica in October. The band hasn’t commented on who will fill in for Fehn.
