The docco was written and produced by Steven Knight, the BAFTA and Oscar-nominated mind behind “Peaky Blinders” and “A Thousand Blows”. Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace directed the film, the duo behind “Shut Up and Play the Hits” and “Meet Me in the Bathroom.” Between them, they have a history of getting close to their subjects, and they demonstrate this by capturing rehearsal footage, backstage access, onstage cameras rolling throughout the tour, and the first joint interview with Liam and Noel in over two decades.
Knight described the tour itself as something that “united generations, cultures and countries,” adding that the documentary is “not only your ticket to the show – it’s a backstage pass and a seat at the table when Liam and Noel sit down together for the first time in 15 years and tell it how it is and how it was.”
The production brings together a heavyweight technical team of cinematographer Haris Zambarloukos, whose credits include “Belfast” and “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” and Oscar-winning sound mixers James Mather (“Top Gun: Maverick”) and Tarn Willers (“The Zone of Interest”). Producers Sam Bridger and Guy Heeley round out a crew with plenty of music documentary experience behind them.
“Don’t Look Back in Anger” is a Magna Studios production presented by Sony Music Vision, and opens in select IMAX and cinemas across Australia in September.
