Moby is selling 200 drum machines on Reverb this week

As somewhat of a pioneer of ’90s electronic music and having sold over 20 million records in his time, Moby is renowned for posessing a very large and very impressive collection of musical equipment. With the huge success of selling off his synthesiser gear and LP records earlier in the year, the musician has opened the doors to his collection of vintage drum machines.

The shop will feature multiples of some items, such as two late-50’s Wurlitzer Side Man standing drum machines, and even a couple of Chamberlain Rhythmates, which are extremely rare due to being some of the very first drum machines ever made.

As with Moby’s previous sales through Reverb, all proceeds will be donated to the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine. This organisation is involved in trying to change the way doctors treat diseases like diabetes, heart disease, obesity, and cancer.

While it seems like a big deal to give up such a huge collection for someone who has dedicated so much of his life to the making of music, Moby just wants these drum machines to go to a good home.

“There are hundreds of them and I loved each and every one of them,” he said. “I hope that if you buy them, you love them as much as I did. Please take care of my babies.”

The store will go live on Thursday October 11 via Reverb.
