John Lennon Biopic ‘Nowhere Boy’ set to become stage musical

As reported by Deadlinethe stage rights to the 2009 biopic have been acquired by UK production companies Aged In Wood and AF Creative Media. Given that both companies have managed to successfully adapt musical stories to the stage in the past with Green Day’s American Idiot and Summer: The Donna Summer Musical, it looks like Nowhere Boy might just be in the right hands.

Remaining faithful to the plot of the original film, the stage production of Nowhere Boy will trace Lennon’s upbringing and burgeoning musical career in The Quarrymen, as well as focusing on his relationships with his mother and aunt. AF Creative Media have also stated that the production will place an emphasis on the music that shaped Lennon’s own songwriting, particularly the songs of African-American musicians who influenced The Beatles early songwriting.
