Muru Music Health has entered an exclusive partnership with Universal Music Australia.
A recently launched Australian music tech startup is aiming to provide an AI-driven music streaming service to aged care residents around the country to ‘help ward off the effects of brain ageing’ in elderly people.
Muru Music Health, which was launched in September by Nicc Johnson, a former Ibiza DJ and musicologist, is touted as the first streaming service for people over the age of 60.
The platform utilises AI technology to tailor customised playlists for users based on their past memories and experiences in an effort to relax listeners and stimulate their memory to strengthen their cognitive skills.
The service has recently entered into an exclusive partnership with Universal Music Australia that will see Muru Music Health provide 5,000 memberships, usually priced at $67.90 for six months, to aged care homes and retirement villages.
The deal will also provide music in 15 different languages to suit listeners for whom English isn’t their first language.
Currently, Muru Music Health is still in the process of raising funds to bolster their memberships in Australia, with the service aiming to expand to the UK as part of an international launch in 2021.
