Jimmy Barnes announces national Flesh and Blood tour

Words by Eli Duxson

The Cold Chisel legend is bringing his 19th solo album on the road this July.

Jimmy Barnes has announced he will be back in theatres across Australia this July in support of his forthcoming Flesh and Blood album.

Check out all the latest touring news here.

Flesh and Blood, which arrives on Friday July 2, marks Barnes’ 19th solo album, and was recorded alongside frequent collaborator Kevin Shirley over the course of 2020.

He kicks the tour off in Perth on the album’s release date of July 2 before heading to Adelaide, Melbourne, Gold Coast, Brisbane, and Sydney.

Barnes said in a press release that “it’s great to be back playing live again”.

“It was good to get some downtime at home for a change but now we’re hungry to get back onstage together,” he said.

“If 2020 taught me anything it’s that Facebook and YouTube videos can be fun but they’re no substitute for a real gig”.

Barnes performed at Saturday night’s ANZAC Day Music from the Home Front concert but has not toured for a solo album since 2019.

His My Criminal Record tour lasted almost two months and featured Jet, Eskimo Joe, and Troy Cassar-Daley as he scoured the East coast of Australia.

While no support acts have been announced this time around, members of his family will feature having attracted millions of views with their performances recorded at home during the peak of the pandemic.

Pre-sale tickets for the Flesh and Blood tour go on sale May 3, while general sales will open May 5.

For now, Barnes continues his involvement in the Red Hot Summer tour on May 1 at Sandstone Point Hotel in Queensland alongside the likes of the Hoodoo Gurus, Jon Stevens, Diesel, and more.
