The new 305P, 306P and 308P MkIII monitors and 310S MkIII sub bring redesigned drivers, front-firing ports, new amps and 81 room EQ combinations.
JBL Professional has rebuilt its 3 Series studio monitors from the drivers out, and the new MkIII range moves the bass port to the front of the cabinet, adds fresh Class D amplification and gives every full-range model a room EQ system with 81 settings to pick from.

The lineup covers three monitor sizes and a sub: the five-inch 305P MkIII, 6.5-inch 306P MkIII and eight-inch 308P MkIII, plus the 10-inch 310S MkIII powered subwoofer. JBL calls it the most extensive redesign the 3 Series has had, and most of the work has gone into the acoustics. A new high-frequency driver is paired with an updated version of JBL’s Image Control Waveguide, which aims to widen the listening area and hold the stereo image steady as you move around the desk, while new woofers use stiffer cones, upgraded magnets and aluminium shorting rings to handle more power with less distortion. The Slipstream port now fires forward rather than out the back, which should make the low end more predictable with monitors pushed onto a desk or close to a wall.

The new amps bring more output, more headroom and a lower noise floor across the range. The 305P MkIII runs 86 watts and reaches down to 45 Hz, the 306P and 308P both run 110 watts and extend to 43 Hz and 41 Hz respectively, and peak SPL climbs from 109 dB on the smallest model to 113 dB on the 308P. Inputs are balanced Neutrik combo jacks, with switchable +4 dBu and -10 dBV sensitivity to suit interfaces, mixers and consumer playback gear.
Room correction is handled by four one-touch controls on each full-range monitor, covering placement, wall distance and high- and low-frequency balance. Between them, they offer 81 EQ combinations, with no calibration software or measurement mic involved.
Every full-range model also has built-in M4 mounting points for walls, ceilings, stands and monitor arms, which opens the range up to 2.1, surround and immersive setups. Anchoring the bottom end, the 310S MkIII packs 300 watts, reaches down to 26 Hz and peaks at 116 dB, with selectable crossover settings and a bypass for external bass management.
