Tones And I’s ‘Dance Monkey’ is now the longest-running ARIA #1 ever

The song, which was released back in May, has been perched on the top of the charts since August 5, marking an incredible 16 week run for Tones And I and beating out the previous record holder Ed Sheeran’s ‘Shape Of You’. Not bad for an nineteen year old artist who’s not yet released a full-length album, is it?

Within the span of six months, ‘Dance Monkey’ has gone six times platinum domestically, has charted at number one in thirty countries – including the UK, where the track has lingered in the top spot for seven weeks and gone platinum – and has also managed to crack the top 25 of America’s Billboard Hot 100.

Given that she’s expected to appear on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon to perform the track today, there’s every chance ‘Dance Monkey’ can climb the US charts even further in the coming weeks.

Tones And I has also been nominated for seven ARIA Awards – read more about that here
