Talking to Triple J’s Hack program on Wednesday, Foley asserted that all recommendations put forward by the working group would be supported, with the stated aim of implementing the pilot program by the middle of this year. The taskforce was put forward in 2015, after campaigning from LISTEN, Helen Marcou of SLAM (Save Live Australia’s Music) and Bakehouse Studios, and Dr. Bianca Fileborn.
The pilot program will be implemented across a selection of live music venues in Victoria, the specifics of which are yet to be announced.
The taskforce’s key suggestions for change include the implementation of the following:
- A venue policy template on identifying and responding to incidents of sexual harassment and assault in live music venues
- A venue training package for the pilot program
- Advertising and awareness-raising materials for patrons and venue staff
- The evaluation of all materials and training
More details will be available in the coming weeks after the taskforce convenes to discuss the program’s implementation.
