Spotify hits 100 million Premium subscribers

The company now have double the amount of paid users than Apple Music’s 50 million. The first three months of this year showed Spotify gaining over four million premium subscribers, earning the company $1.69 billion. 

 

Although Spotify beats Apple Music overall, U.S subscribers seem to give preference to Apple Music. A total of 28 million users pay for a subscription to Apple Music, while Spotify comes in second place with 26 million. 

 

In the ad-supported streaming world, Spotify might have a new competitor very soon. Amazon is reportedly in the works to launch their own ad-supported music service. For now though, it doesn’t look like Spotify’s subscriber count will be slowing down anytime soon. 

 

However, it hasn’t all been positive from the Spotify camp this year
