PPCA URGES AUSTRALIAN MUSICIANS TO CLAIM MONEY OWED TO THEM

If you’re an Australian recording artist and have had your music broadcast or publicly performed, or if you hold the copyright to any recordings that are receiving airplay then you may be eligible to share in the licence fees that are being collected by PPCA.

The PPCA collects licence fees from over 70,000 businesses across Australia that play recorded content, be it sound of music videos. Each year the income collected from those businesses (less administration fees) is redistributed to registered recording artists or copyright owners (typically record labels).

In order for you to be eligible to share in this year’s distribution, artists must have registered as members of PPCA by August 31, and if you are already a member it’s important you register your claim before the same date.

At the end of 2014, PPCA distributed $32.8M to its registered artists and labels.
