Flume hits a billion global streams

‘Never Be Like You’ does the bulk of work for Flume, with the 2016 track off the album Skin boasting over 160 million YouTube views (across two videos) for a total of 789 million on his channel.

With those numbers Flume joins an eclectic duo on the APRA AMCOS 1,000,000,000 list, with Nat Dunn the first milestone-maker for her work on Marchmello & Anne-Marie’s hit ‘Friends’ which topped at no.2 on U.S Radio and No.11 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

But not long to be alone, Dean Lewis found his way into the Billion club as ‘Be Alright’ spent eight weeks as the most played song on the radio and five weeks at number 1 on the ARIA singles chart, hitting the Billboard Hot 100 top 40 along the way.

However, ‘Dance Monkey’ may just make Tones And I the next to join the trio as it currently is receiving 33 million weekly streams on Spotify and sits at 75 million YouTube views. And with an album due out next year, that gap will be getting ever smaller and smaller.

The APRA AMCOS list recognises artists who have been streamed a billion times across a number of digital music sites, including YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, Vevo, Amazon, Google Play and more.
