Australian Women in Music Awards list 2019 Keynote Speaker, Performers and Program

On the night, the stage will be blessed with talent, as Cheryl Barker, Tamara Anna Cislowska, Clare Bowditch, Katie Noonan, Melinda Schneider, NGAIIRE and more are set to perform.

Master of Ceremony duties will be shared by TV’s Yumi Stynes and producer Alethea Beetson, and the night will be capped by a spectacular ensemble of Katie Noonan, Zoe Hauptman and Jess Green joining the incredible Renée Geyer on stage.

With an emphasis on diversity and talent as well as an inclusiveness of women, First Nations, Multicultural artists and members of the LGBTQIA community, the second annual event will see four forums take place that feature industry leaders from across the sector in conjuction with the ceremony.

As announced earlier this year, topics include Visibility in Hip Hop – Women on the front line by Kween G, The Art of Rebellion – The Intersection of Music & Poilitics by Merenia Marin, Image Making – The Changing Face of Music by Rhianna Patrick, and the How Opera Forum – Identity, Representation and Priveledge by Dr. Eve Klein.

A keynote address from the multitalented broadcaster, musician, writer, teacher and philanthropist trans man Eddie Ayres will take place during the ceremony, following a rally for change embraced at last year’s event.

AMWA Founding Executive Director Vicki Gordon said, “Our 2019 keynote speaker, Eddie Ayres, is part of a hopeful vision for the future of women and diverse people in positions of power and creative control. Because we are at a crossroads of dynamic possibilities for inclusivity, AWMA’s vision is to lead with generosity, to insist that our society benefits when musicians and those who work with them are empowered from a diversity of places, cultures and identities.”
