Ecca Vandal nabs the Levi’s Music Prize for 2019

To be eligible for the Levi’s Music Prize, artists have to have previously showcased at BIGSOUND. Since her appearance at the festival/showcase/summit in 2016, Ecca Vandal has gone on to release her debut record and play the likes of UK’s Reading and Leeds and the coveted Afropunk festival in the United States.

Ecca Vandal, who’s been floating around the Melbourne scene for the better part of five years, received the prize alongside a healthy $30,000 – $25,000 of which is stone cold cash, with the other five racks going towards funding future tours.

Previous winners of the Levi’s Music Prize include Hatchie, Stella Donnelly, Rolling Coastal Blackouts Fever and Alex Lahey, with the next prize winner being announced at BIGSOUND on Friday September 6.
