The most notable upgrade is perhaps the improved converters courtesy of ESS Technology’s latest generation of converters, replacing the Cirrus Logic chips the previous series were shipped with.

The front panel features a new hi-res colour touchscreen to replace the non-touch twin TFT’s of the original series, an additional main TRS output and dual headphone connection for further monitoring and recording flexibility, and a black casing.

The back panel features 32 D-sub analogue inputs and outputs, while the four pairs of ADAT ports and twin MADI I/O have held their places with the dual-redundant PSU sockets.

The Dante model adds a pair of ethernet connections, as the standard model sees an additional stereo pair of monitor output jacks grace the back panel, while space has been saved with the new Type A mini-jacks to replace the MIDI DIN ins and outs.

Ferrofish said SHARC DSP upgrades will be accommodated via the new pair of expansion ports for DSP sticks, where the predecessor had DSP fitted as standard.

This can be controlled on the new models via traditional MIDI, using MIDI-over-MADI, USB, from a Dante network, or using the new GPIO ports for remote-control.

The units are sized in 19-inch 1U frames and employ silent fan-less designs, and are expected to start shipping in early April.
