Best known as the strikingly dynamic guitarist behind The Smiths, who ruled UK pop in the ’80s, Marr has also brought his flair to groups such as Modest Mouse, The Cribs, and The Pretenders.
Offering a wealth of highly-specialised features, the guitar is based on Marr’s modified 1965 Fender Jaguar, and is as distinctive as the sounds he wrings from it.
The Jaguar has dual custom-wound Bare Knuckle Johnny Marr single-coil pickups, that crank out incisive tone, and are controlled by master volume and tone knobs, as well as a four-position blade pickup switch.
This includes a series wiring option, for thicker tone and higher output, and dual upper-horn slide switches which “brighten” the tone, with a low end roll-off either universally, or in position four.
The Johnny Marr Jaguar features an alder body with a custom-profile maple neck directly inspired by his 1965 model, a vintage style truss rod adjustment and a 7.25” radius rosewood fingerboard, with 22 vintage-style frets.
The Jaguar’s bridge has also been modified to Marr’s liking, featuring Mustang saddles and nylon post inserts for improved stability that protect against shifts that may occur because of heavy tremolo usage.
It also includes a taller tremolo arm, and a nylon sleeve insert that prevents the arm from swinging and keeps it in place, whatever position you put it in.
The Fever Dream Yellow Johnny Marr Jaguar is available now for $3,899.
